Has anyone here been to the new clan wars arenas yet? They're very cool. I spent a few days in Clan Wars, and eventually levelled my Strength to 61. If you go in, I have some tips. First off, a few tips on the free-for-all: 1. Have 30+ Prayer. I have 41 myself, and so the Prayer Steel Skin works for around five minutes in one stretch for me, just long enough for a half-dozen kills or so. 2. Recommended weapons (F2P): Rune scimitar or 2h. 3. Don't make the "Go North to Fight" mistake like I did. You can cross the barrier at any point. I, however, had my compass messed up and instead went real far east before I thought I could cross the line. 4. Stay in the single combat zones. Clan Wars players like to organize mini-clans and fight further north in the multicombat zones, and they don't want you messing with them. They'll probably double you and annihilate you if needed.
The best arenas are the ones with all the towers if you're a mage or ranger. From there, you can snipe people on the ground and on other towers if they're close enough. I had a really fun time with a magic sniper fight with another clan. If at all possible, find the best clan for you. You should probably round your combat level to find the right clan. For example, I would choose a level 70+ clan because I'm 74 combat, not a level 80+ clan because my opponents would probably be high-level. You also want a clan with around a half dozen people or more.
All in all, I might add more to this topic later in terms of strategies and choosing a clan, or maybe recommendations for levels in combat, magic or ranged. But that's it for now, and be sure to vote in the poll!

More Clan Wars stuff... Today I have some level recommendations for doing Clan Wars. I'll start off with the one I think should be used the most- melee. I would recommend at least 50 in every melee stat, preferably even 60+ (that's what I have; 60 in everything). You should probably use a rune scimitar, but you could also use a 2h in the regular CW if you're helping to kill an enemy player, as long as another person is being the tank (the one who "absorbs" all the damage), because the hit ratio of using a 2h versus a scimitar is 3 to 1. Magic: Magic-users should only use magic if they are using fire bolt or higher for a spell. If you're just going against a melee opponent in the FFA, you should equip a rune kiteshield if at all possible for better defense, or, for less negative magic attacks, the full helm. You should try to be able to use the +15% magic bonus prayer (it requires only 27 Prayer) to boost your Magic hitting ability. You should bring either combat robes (which are what I use) or normal black or blue magic robes. Ranged: I don't usually use Ranged myself, because I have such a low level (it's only 50), but I would probably recommend level 70+ Ranged, using steel arrows, or just irons if you don't feel like spending some money. Wear a rune full helm if you're not sniping in the normal PvP, but wear one in the FFA unless against a magic-using opponent. Always use a maple shortbow, but you could also use a willow comp bow, but I wouldn't spend 60k if I could get a maple short for less than .5k. Use a green dragon hide body and legs, as well as the vambraces.
Funny Clan Wars video: Cool strategy: If you can locate the points in the ground where there are viewing points for other players who are dead, stand on them and you will become invisible, essentially, to other players (I'm not sure if this still works, but it worked a few months ago for me).
Coming soon: More strategies, especially for FFA!

Yeah, I'll probably mage too, but I only have 51 mage, not your outrageous 65. You should get 68 or 66, what ever the level is for the Magic Guild. Are you going to fire bolt? I think that's the cheapest way to train F2P mage. Crumble Undead is best, though, in the Varrock Sewers. Avalon512
